A FACE OF CHANGE AS OLOTU STEPS IN!

OLOTU STEPS IN AS CALABAR PORT MANAGER.

Mrs. Olufunmilayo Olotu, has now assumed duties as the new Port Manager, of Calabar Port Complex. She took over recently, from Engr, Seyi Ogundele, who is now the Assistant General Manager, Utility, Eastern Ports, Portharcourt.
At the handing over ceremony, which took place at the board room, the outgoing Port Manager welcomed and congratulated Mrs. Olotu for her new appointment and gave her his blessings but urged her to give everybody equal opportunity as a starting point. He said, PM, without these people (workers), i wouldn't haved achieved what i achieved here as a tree does not make a forest. "You need a lot of discerning spirit, alot of wisdom, you need to exhibit a lot of maturity, you need to be extremely cautious because ther are certain steps you you take that you will take no more, there are certain things you do that you cannot undo again, and there are certain things you do in good faith that people will not see but once you are open, once you are transparent, once you are for the truth, once you are for the best and once you are willing to even help the weak, definitely success is yours", said Engr. Ogundele.
In his words of advise to the management and the union members whom he said stood firmly by him throughout his tenure without any industrial crises in the Port, stated we need to strive to do everything possible to contribute our quota to ensure that the image people give Calabar Port, which is not good enough, should be erased to people see that the Port can compete effectively ann efficiently with other Ports provided they are given the neccessary supports.
Speaking further, he told them that they should have a strategic thinking, saying that, the Nigerian Ports Authority that he is serving is his farm. "I have no other farm and if this farm collapses that means i am a failure", said Ogundele.
In conclusion, he implored the management, the workers and the union members to extend the kind of co-operation and supports accorded him to the in-coming Port Manager.
Responding, Mrs. Olotu, expressed her joy as she thanked God almighty and the Managing Director, Mrs. Hadiza Usman Balla for the new appointment  while she prayed and wished the out-going Port Manager a better life and success throughout the remainding years of his service in NPA.
Demonstrating her love for her immediate past predecessor, presented a beautiful card of excellence to him, saying i am very proud of you Engr. Ogundele and happy about your achievement. You are a brand and i believe in borrowing vessels, God will celebrate you. I promise to build on the foundations you laid in Calabar Port
In her address to the Port Management, she sought for their supports, co-opperation and understanding while she solicited for support and backing of the two house unions so that she could consolidate onthe good works left behind by the former Port Manager. "I am for an excellent performance and not in cuttingcorners . We should improve our punctuality and ensure to always wear our identity cards especially at the Port premises. My vision is simply on partnership that will promote the core value of the Nigerian Ports Authority and in human capacity development. While i am here, gate will be open for business to come in but i hate injustice and cheating but believe in fairplay".
On her final note, Mrs. Olotu who spoke confidently to reach out to every stakeholder in the port as soon as she settles down, promised that the dredging which is the major challenge in Calabar Port will receive Gos's attention.
