Health: These Things Happen To Your Body When You Stop Eating Meat

Image
The meat we eat today is vastly different from the meat our ancestors ate. Back in the day, animals roamed free and ate grass, insects or whatever was available to them…Today, some of our meat products go through even more processing…they are smoked, cured, then treated with nitrates, preservatives, and various chemicals.” – Kris Gunnars, BSc To start with, we just want to say that we’re not bashing meat eaters. That said, given the average American diet – one high in unhealthy fats, lacking fiber, and excessive sugar intake – cutting down or eliminating meat may be an extremely healthy option. People abstain from meat for a variety of reasons, including ethical, nutritional, and/or environmental concerns. While it is beyond the scope of this article to elaborate on the rationale of vegetarianism/veganism, the dietary practice is buttressed by plenty of scientific evidence. The consumption of heavily processed meat, which is (by far) the most common type eaten, can have an adve

We should not only respond to messages or tweets, we should ask what is our role in proactively shaping policy". He's also not happy about the Trump Administration's threats to erect trade barriers and to pull out of the Paris Agreement on climate change saying "It's in the long-term interest of all of humanity that the US doesn't quit the Paris Agreement". The Trump Administration has made it clear that it thinks Germany should spend a lot more money on its military. Tillerson says Germany can afford to spend at least 2% of its $3.5 trillion GDP on defense. At the moment, Germany spends closer to 1%.

Lifestyle: 25 Ways to Find Happiness Without Chasing It

Image
Everyone tells us to just “be happy,” but how can we actually attain that feeling without faking it? We can’t always feel happy, as humans have complex, varying degrees of emotions. However, we can aim to feel happy more often, can’t we? Of course, because anything less than that would prove detrimental to our mental, physical, and emotional heath. HERE ARE 25 WAYS TO FIND HAPPINESS (WITHOUT CHASING IT): 1. BE THANKFUL Pennsylvania University psychologist Dr. Martin E P Seligman experimented on 411 people by making them write about early memories every week, testing on positive psychology interventions. When the weekly assignment was to write and deliver by hand a letter of gratitude to someone who was not properly thanked for their kindness, subjects developed an immediate, immense increase in happiness, with the impact more significant than any other intervention. The effects lasted for a month. You must exude an attitude of gratitude, dude. 2. LOOK WITHIN As the title sugge

Lifestyle: What Do Your Fingernails Reveal About Your Personality?

Image
Some of our smallest personal habits, like how we keep our fingernails trimmed, our finger length, or even the natural shape of our fingernails can reveal more than you might guess about our unique, individual personality traits. In this article, we will look at some of the reasons that our fingernails can reveal our inner personality and what your fingernails say about you. WHAT DO YOUR FINGERNAILS REVEAL ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY? In grade school, it used to be a joke that you would ask someone to look at their fingernails and if they turned their hand with their fingernails pointing toward themselves with their hand curled, it meant they were feminine, but if they looked at their hand with their nails pointing toward the other person it meant they were masculine. Boys tried to catch girls doing this the ‘wrong’ way for their gender and vice versa, and then used that as another reason to tease. It turns out that fingers may have more in common with our masculinity or femininity t

Lifestyle: 5 Things To Give Up Right Now (Even If You Don’t Want To)

Image
Nothing is more intolerable than to have to admit to yourself your own errors.” Ludwig van Beethoven Giving up anything we’ve come to embrace (consciously or not) as part of ourselves is often a tough endeavor. Compiling a list of things that each one of us “shouldn’t do” is hard too, by the way. But we digress. It is our sincere belief that giving up the 5 things on this list will lead to a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life. Each item has the potential to eliminate a ton of stress and possible heartache while maybe even providing a renewed sense of freedom.   HERE ARE 5 THINGS WE SHOULD ALL AIM TO GIVE UP: 1. THE NEED FOR CONTROL Aside from positive self-control, we should each minimize the need to feel in control of things around you. People tagged with the “control freak” label always need to feel in control of events, situations, and especially people; this last one strips the right of each individual to simply be themselves. Controlling others is a form of a

Lifestyle: 10 Things To Always Look For In A Relationship

Image
Picking the right person for the right reasons at the right time is an art form.” – Dr. Barton Goldsmith Ever wondered why nearly half of all marriages in the United States end in divorce? Relationship experts are all too quick to point out why married couples split – information that may or may not make a difference for someone seeking to avoid the “Big D.” Something that’s far less discussed is the vetting process known as dating. The word “vetting” may sound callous when describing dating, but isn’t that REALLY what it is? Sure, dating can be (and should be) a fun, non-committal, “this may or may not happen” type of thing; but for most people, a date is a potential partner. It’s too easy to say, “you should wait for this, this, and this before committing yourself.” While such a statement may be well-intentioned, it’s pretty much worthless unless you provide some substance; in other words, why “this, this, and this” may be important attributes to look for in a partner.  Eve
