Man Utd transfer news: Rooney must leave for first team football

Rooney must leave for first team football

Mourinho tells Rooney he cannot guarantee him a place in the team any more - all the latest Man United transfer news and gossip

Jose Mourinho has told Wayne Rooney that he must "move if he wants regular first team football".That's the bombshell news delivered by The Sun, which claims that the United gaffer has informed his captain's advisers that he "simply cannot guarantee him a starting place any longer".

Rooney has slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford since Mourinho arrived in the summer and speculation has been growing that the Special One is slowly easing the talismanic Red Devil out of the club. That now appears to be the case with the Sun's exclusive, and while Mourinho is in no rush to offload Rooney - who turned 31 on Monday - he wants him to know where he stands.

The disclosure is likely to force the England captain's hand with the Sun claiming that he's expected to start looking at offers from China and the States.
Another player on whom the sands of Old Trafford time are running down is Morgan Schneiderlin, with the Sun also reporting that Mourinho is "prepared to let him go". The 26-year-old Frenchman arrived at the club from Southampton a little over a year ago but injuries and poor form have hampered his progress and now it seems he is about to be shown the door with a United source telling the Sun: "Morgan's future is very uncertain at the club. He's barely played a game this season."

Man Utd transfer news: Rooney and Ibrahimovic off to China?

Spectacled Swedish svengali Sven-Goran Eriksson is ready to take Wayne Rooney away to China.
The former England coach is now in charge of Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG and according to the Sunday Mirror the laid-back ladies' man has his eye on the ageing United captain.
It seems that Eriksson will look to tempt Rooney to the Far East in the new year with a "mega-money offer" after he got the go ahead from Shanghai's owners to woo the veteran.
The Mirror alleges that Rooney was first approached at the start of the year with the "offer of a £500,000-a-week deal plus commercial bonuses" but the player - who turns 31 today - turned it down in favour of remaining at Old Trafford. But with his best days with England and United now behind him, it could be that a second approach will meet with more success, although the Mirror also says it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Rooney will head across the Atlantic to end his days in the MLS.
And it seems that Rooney isn't the only United player being targeted by the Chinese with the Daily Star claiming that an unnamed Super League club are "in contact" with the agent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
There were rumours in the summer that the stringy Swede would head to China but instead he chose United when he left Paris Saint-Germain. His one-year deal expires in June and the Chinese Super League believe a player of Zlatan's profile would put bums on seats and they are prepared "to top Ibra’s current £300k-a-week deal". But the Star says United "are expected to activate a further 12-month option on Ibrahimovic" and keep the 35-year-old at Old Trafford until the summer of 2018.

Man Utd transfer news: Race for PSG defender Kimpembe

The Premier League big guns are all interested in one thing this season: defenders - and Manchester United are said to be leading the race to sign the next big thing.

The Red Devils have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain youngster Presnel Kimpembe.
The 21-year-old centre-back has made seven appearances in Ligue 1 this season and been called up to the France national squad, prompting envious glances from across the Channel.
"PSG are keen to tie Kimpembe down to a new contract," says the Daily Mirror, picking up on reports in France. But "United, Liverpool and Chelsea will all be waiting in the wings if those negotiations don't work out", it adds.
Those three sides are also said to be interested in another PSG defender, Thiago Silva, reports TalkSport. The Brazilian has 18 months left to run on his contract but is likely to quit the French champions either in January or at the end of the season unless they offer him a new deal. His agent claims several clubs have already made offers.
But there is bad news for United's pursuit of Spanish midfielder Fran Villalba, reports ESPN, as the 18-year-old has signed a new deal with Valencia.
"Villalba, who has been playing for Valencia's B team in the Segunda Division B despite breaking into the first team under Neville, announced on Twitter that he had agreed a new deal until 2020," reports ESPN.
