Tottenham must improve from Leverkusen loss for Arsenal trip - Lloris

LONDON -- Hugo Lloris says Tottenham Hotspur "failed" in the Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen and warned his teammates they cannot repeat the performance in Sunday's North London derby.
Kevin Kampl scored the only goal of the game on Wednesday night as Spurs lost at home in the Champions League for the second time, in front of a club-record attendance of 85,512 at Wembley Stadium.
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo LlorisTottenham captain Hugo Lloris has warned his teammates they must lift their game when they face Arsenal.

Spurs were again without Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela, while Mousa Dembele was replaced in the first half with an ankle injury.
But club captain Lloris, who struggled with his distribution all game, refused to blame the missing players and said Spurs' disjointed performance was hard to take.
"The most important thing is the feeling that you show through the pitch, the attitude you show on the pitch," Lloris told reporters.
"Today, to be honest, the feeling is very bad. It's difficult to accept that performance. It was difficult to recognise the team -- very aggressive, very calm under pressure. And today was completely the opposite.
"We cannot depend on one, two or three players. We need to think as a team. In football there are ups and downs. It is difficult because this game was every important and I did not feel we were aware of that. Leverkusen did not play a great game -- they were just well organized and had some chances because of us, because we made too many mistakes.
"We failed and it was difficult to keep a balance on the pitch. We win together and we lose together. At the moment we need to learn quickly because there is a big, big game on Sunday."
The defeat leaves Spurs winless in six games and without a goal from open play in five, and they face Arsenal -- who are unbeaten since the opening day of the Premier League season -- at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.
Lloris admits Spurs are low on confidence ahead of the match but warned that they must regroup quickly for the trip across North London.
"We just need to forget about the disappointment of this game," Lloris added. "We will be back in a Premier League game in a great stadium with a good pitch. We need to enjoy that kind of moment and stay united.
"We cannot be in a worse situation. After a bad game like today we need to question ourselves, recover and be ready for Sunday.
"We play every game to win. The mentality is a winning mentality. It's true that the last few games we haven't won and perhaps we've lost a bit of confidence. I hope that we are aware that that kind of game against Arsenal is a big, big opportunity for everyone to enjoy football, share a great moment of football with the fans and try to make them proud of us."
