Felli lists Vidic as toughest Reds opponent
Marouane Fellaini has named former club captain Nemanja Vidic
as the toughest Manchester United opponent of his Premier League
career, describing the Serbian as “very tough”.
The Belgium international - who faced the Reds many times while playing for former club Everton - revealed that opinion during the ‘Football & Me’ section of his recent interview with United Review.
Fellaini also revealed his thoughts on the greatest Belgian player ever, detailed the best goal he's ever scored in training and recalled his involvement in the Toffees' famous 4-4 draw with United at Old Trafford in 2012. Check out his answers to our short round of quick-fire questions below…
GREATEST BELGIAN FOOTBALLER EVER?
“There have been some very good players so I don’t have one name. There are some great players in the team now – Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Vincent Kompany – but also there were some fantastic players in the past, like Enzo Scifo and Wilfried van Moer… I can’t choose!"
BEST GOAL YOU’VE SCORED IN TRAINING?
“It was one here at United, about two years ago. I was running with the ball all the way, past everyone, then scored, so that was a good goal."
BEST MEMORY OF PLAYING UNITED?
“I have a few, but I think the 4-4 draw at Old Trafford was a very good moment for Everton. It wasn’t good for United, but that’s just part of football.”
FAVOURITE PART OF TRAINING
“Easy: the games. Always the small games we play because I enjoy them the most. Boxes are also very enjoyable but it has to be the games.”
TOUGHEST UNITED OPPONENT?
“Vidic. It was always tough to play against him. He defended very well and he was a very tough player.”
FAVOURITE MOMENT WITH UNITED?
“Winning the FA Cup was a very big moment. You play for Manchester United to win trophies and play in games like that, so it was a great moment for me.”
