Huawei, Fortis build ICT centre in Lagos community

Huawei Technologies and Fortis Project
Limited have commenced the construction of an Information and
Communications Technology centre in the Eti-Osa East Local Council
Development Area of Lagos State, which will aid young people to acquire
computing skills.
Speaking at the inauguration of the
project, the Sole Administrator of the Eti-Osa East LCDA, Mr. Tunde
Ayeni, said that the centre would equally help the youth in their
studies, “especially when they have to carry out researches.”
He said that the completion of the
project would reduce gaps that were created as a result of unemployment
in the locality, saying, “Through the acquisition of skills in computing
and related areas, the youth in Eti-Osa will easily become employable
or better still, self employed.”
He commended Fortis Project Limited and
Huawei Technologies for deeming it fit to undertake the construction of
the skills acquisition centre.
The Managing Director, Fortis Project
Limited, Mr. Dotun Adebayo, said the ICT centre would provide the people
with a 21st century learning environment and propel them to excel in
their chosen fields of studies.
He thanked the management and employees
of Huawei for making this to happen through its Corporate Social
Responsibility platform.
The Public Relations Manager, Huawei
Technologies Nigeria Limited, Fancy Hongjuan, said, “We will not just
continue to drive the growth of the ICT in Nigeria, but we will ensure
that we adequately give back to the society.”
